Tri Cycle trains its clientele to the National Standards for Cycle Training
This three tier training scheme was devised to teach individuals how to cycle safely and confidently on the road with respect for other road users.
The training has three different levels:
♦ Level 1- Conducted in a controlled environment away from traffic. Provides the basic cycle control skills including, starting and pedalling, stopping, manoeuvring, signalling and using gears.
♦ Level 2- On road training for those who have completed level 1. It gives real cycling experience. Training is given individually or in small groups over a number of sessions.
♦ Level 3- Develops the skills. Riders are trained to make journeys in a variety of traffic conditions competently. Cyclists reaching Level 3 standard will be able to deal with all types of road conditions and more complex situations. The training covers dealing with hazards, the appropriate use of cycle lanes, making "on the move" risk assessments and planning routes for safer cycling.
Training for children
Training for children (8 years and upwards) is the same as detailed above for adults. It can be delivered in small groups within school time, as part of a summer scheme, at weekends or half term holidays . Each course comprises several sessions on consecutive days. Each lesson builds on the previous one, and by the end of the course the children will have ridden on roads with traffic, practised a range of manoeuvres and started to develop road sense.
